January 2009: Total Life Savings Down to $58k

Everything is working against me; no matter how strong, how positive, how adaptive, how intelligent or how resourceful I am; I just can’t win.

I spent the last 13 years working VERY hard and building up a net worth of over $2,000,000 (including the business).

A year ago, I had $500,000 in cash, and as of Friday I have $58,000 left thanks to the stock market.

My business is retail, and the average decline in the USA for retailers is 2.7%. We are now down 18%.

In December 2007 my water heater flooded my condo, in December 2008 my bathroom flooded, and then there was a fire on Friday, which fortunately only burned the condo below mine before I heard the alarm and called 911, saving my condo.

Yesterday when I was at Lowe’s trying to buy materials to rebuild my condo & they declined my credit card. I called Amex, they said that they reduced my limit from $15,000 to $4,000 because according to my credit report (which has been flawless for 17 years) I had a debt collection agency reporting that I owed them $4000. I spent all night disputing it on my credit reports, because it’s not mine, but it’s going to take months to remove it.

I’m suing my friend Noah because he owes me $10,000. Now in addition to that, I have to sue the debt collection agency for falsifying information on my credit report. I am also suing my condo association. I can’t handle any more problems!

Oh, and I hate Vermont, I’m eternally single, and don’t get why so many things keep happening to me when I try so hard to be positive, honest, and reactive!! Gah.

  • You are going to bounce back from all of this and be a million times stronger and better. I’m more confident about that than I am about anything else in the entire world. I’m serious Pants. I know it. You can always come live with me and start your life over.
